How this works
Why a book is split into “sections”
- Cloudflare Pages refuses any single file over 25 MB, so each book ships as a run of page-range sections and the reader stitches them back together. You address ordinary book pages, 1 to N.
- Only the section you are reading is fetched, so opening a 138 MB book on a phone costs about 15 MB, not 138.
- Your place is saved in the URL (
#p=204) and in the browser, per device. Send yourself the URL and the other device opens on the same page. - Text is selectable and the browser's own Find works on the page you are looking at. To search a whole book, use that course's Reader tab, which indexes the full text.
- ⤓ This section saves the current section as an ordinary PDF if you want it offline.

Reading to retain
- Open the book at today's chapter next to the matching Study Guide page.
- Switch to the Study Guide → 🎯 Cloze Mode → drill the bolded terms.
- End the session in Mastery for spaced repetition.
- Keep notes in the Notes tab as you read.

- Bear, Neuroscience: Exploring the Brain — EPUB, 54 MB. Deliberately not part of NEUR 1520; the course runs on Mind's Machine.
